Our Story
Dentistry of Uptown Charlotte was founded in 1995 by Dr. Robert Heck, who established the practice after acquiring the office from another clinician. While the practice had served the Uptown community, it was Dr. Heck who gave it a new name—and a renewed vision—as he launched Dentistry of Uptown Charlotte.
A proud graduate of the UNC Adam’s School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill, Dr. Heck had recently completed an advanced general dentistry residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Driven by a desire to return to North Carolina and build a practice grounded in integrity and clinical excellence, Dr. Heck devoted the next 27 years to delivering compassionate, high-quality care to generations of Charlotte residents.
In April 2022, Dr. Heck retired and passed the mantle to Dr. Minka Hotic, also a graduate of the UNC Adams School of Dentistry. Dr. Hotic shares the same patient-first philosophy and is committed to honoring Dr. Heck’s legacy while continuing to evolve the practice through innovation and lifelong learning.
Known for her evidence-based, minimally invasive, and holistic approach to care, Dr. Hotic travels throughout the United States and internationally each year for continuing education and training in the latest technologies and procedures. Her goal is simple: to help every patient feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for—while delivering exceptional results that stand the test of time.
